Last week!

Monday, May 31st, 2004

Well I have finished my last night shift here! hooray :P
I picked up my clearance form today, however my flight back to the UK still hasn’t been confirmed!! I have to phone tomorrow to check.
Off to Port Louis tomorrow for a look around. There are only 3 houses there but it used to be the Falklands capital before it moved, lock, stock, and barrel, to Stanley. Its a history trip!

Good news/Bad news!

Wednesday, May 26th, 2004

I have been selected to go on the next Further Promotion course from 22nd June to 23rd July. This in its self is good, as if I pass I will get promotion. The down side is that Évi and I are booked on the Eurotunnel on the 23rd July at one in the morning. Obviously I need to try to change these dates if this is possible. The people I need to speak to should be back tomorrow, so hopefully I can sort everything out.

My character assassination will be done by tomorrow at my Gozome night, I just have to stand there while its read. Also during the evening I have to down a pint under 10 seconds, any left after that time I have to put onto my head. Another thing I have to do is be weighed out, they weighed me in when I arrived. The person who has gained/losted the most weight out of all the ‘gozomes’ has to ring the bell, which incurs a £5 fine.

On Monday I travelled down to San Carlos. The road there was the worst I have travelled on, literally a white knuckle ride. At San Carlos there is a small museum and a war cemmetry, besides that there is only 5 houses.

Still no confimation about my flight back, again I should find out tomorrow.

 its all fun and games…

Last shift

Sunday, May 23rd, 2004

Hello all, at last on Tuesday I will be starting my last whole shift cycle :D This week I plan to start my clearing, I can only start this though if my replacements flight details have been confirmed. So fingers-crossed.
Last Friday I was Orderly Corporal, this mainly involved looking after drunk people. We had people falling asleep whilst on the phone, and people asking where their rooms were as they were to drunk to remember. Crazy!

Warning to all

THIS IS A SCAM!

Today in my Freeserve account I got a Phish spam claiming to be from Barclays, asking me to confirm my details:
Details Confirmation

SECURITY ALERT: PIease read this important message

As the Technical service of bank have been currently updating the software, we kindly ask you to follow the reference given below to confirm your data, otherwise your access to the system may be bIocked.

PIease foIIow the link below to fill the form “DetaiIs Confirmation”:

http://www.personaI.barcIays.co.uk/goto/pfsoIb_Iogin

I clicked on the link as I was curious to how close to the Barclays bank web site these fraudsters got to the real thing, it was quite close but not close enough, do not worry I never put any of my bank details in! I am not a fool - although I can see how people get tricked in a scam like this. The obvious reason why it is not Barclays is the domain name, it is a subdomain name (the dot between personal and barclays gives that away), but most people would not know that.

Please everyone be aware of this scam and anything which online asks you to confirm security details. If in doubt phone the company directly, as security matters like this will NOT be done online.

Replacement news

Thursday, May 20th, 2004

At last it seems there is news on my replacement! He is a Cpl from Neatishead (Who I know from years ago), he will be arriving on the 4th June, so it looks like I will be back in the UK on the 6th. So just a fortnight left then, thank god!
